201) Michigan Marvels

The Wolverine State beckons as we begin the Second Season of The Seasoned Traveler. From the windmill at Holland (MI), to a walk across Mackinac Island, a taste of Germany in Frankenmuth, and more, you'll enjoy this wonderful state that touches four of the five Great Lakes.

202) New York State - From End to End

Far from the madding crowd of New York City , the Seasoned Traveler visits some of the Empire State's quiet corners-the farms and roadside stands on Long Island's North Fork, the glorious Finger Lakes region, and the mighty mountains known as the Adirondacks .

   

203) Quebec --C'est Magnifique


It is the largest province in the second biggest nation on the face of the earth. Quebec is absolutely charming. We visit its world-class metropolis, Montreal, then its captivating capital, Quebec City, and journey northward into just a few of its many-splendored places. Bring your French phrase book along and prepare to enjoy la bon vie.

204) Slovenia


The Seasoned Traveler is spending some quality time in the former Yugoslavia , in three new countries offering great travel experiences. Slovenia suffered little during the country's internal melt-down and has progressed enough to become part of the European Union. Some of the highlights of any trip include beautiful Bled, the Postojna Caves, and Lipice-where a tradition of brilliant horsemanship began.

   

205) Croatia & Bosnia-Hercegovina


Two other provinces of the former Yugoslavia are beginning their news "lives" after more serious damage from the 1990s war. Croatia is on its way to becoming a tourist Mecca, having been discovered already by western Europeans. And why not? The Croatian Riviera is breathtaking and is half the cost of the French Riviera. Split is a treasure town, going back to the Roman Empire. Dubrovnik is a 7th Century city that is one of the most charming communities in all of Europe. We'll also show you Mostar Bridge, destroyed in war and rebuilt as a gesture of peace.

206) The Gulf Coast


In 2004 and 2005, parts of the U.S. Gulf Coast were devastated or destroyed by Hurricanes Ivan (2004) and Katrina (2005). But the Gulf Coast is struggling back to life, albeit slowly in some places. Because it's such a lovely area and because many people are choosing it for their retirement living, The Seasoned Traveler visited three of the five Gulf States to see what makes them so special.

   

207) Heritage/Golf


Fast-becoming popular among seasoned travelers, Heritage Tours allow folks to explore their own history and culture or that of someone else.

As an example of a typical Heritage experience, we'll visit Harlem in New York City to get an on-the-spot history and culture lesson about America 's so-called "black Mecca ".

Later in the show, Travel+Leisure Golf magazine's Editor-in-Chief John Atwood provides his picks for the ten best golf courses around the world. After all, millions of American men, women, and children are golfers and love the sport.

208) English Gardens


Whether you have a green thumb or not, you'll enjoy seeing what some people can do in the garden. The Seasoned Traveler journeys to some of the biggest and smallest green spaces in England, from the grand garden at central England's Chatsworth House to the diminutive Crook Hall and Gardens in the north. Rakes and garden gloves are not required to watch this episode.

   

209) Scottish Castles


Traveling north into Scotland, we'll show you a handful of the more than 70 castles that dot the beautiful countryside. You'll see one of the oldest and youngest of these special houses and spend a good deal of time around Stirling. It is not only home to one of Scotland's most famous castles but is a town important to the history of this region and this country.

210) Savannah/Charleston-Tale of Two Cities

The United States is fortunate to have two such classic and charming cities and so close together. Charleston and Savannah were both founded before the American Revolution. They were important then and they remain vibrant Southern belles even today. The Georgia and South Carolina cities are less than 100 miles apart and they are often compared, as adventurers visit both communities. As we discovered, there are some things the cities share but they are also unique and very different.

   

211) Puerto Rico


It's a Commonwealth and part of the United States. Some would like Puerto Rico to become the 51st state, while others want it to declare its independence. Residents seem to prefer things just as they are and Americans will enjoy visiting the island, not just for its beauty but because you don't need a passport to enter and exit and there's no limit on the amount of products people can buy and bring home. We'll take you from the east of Puerto Rico to the west and show you its striking sights.

212) Panama


It is now a thriving Central American nation and in complete control of the Panama Canal, built by the U.S. a century ago and run by Americans until the end of the 20th Century. Panama is also becoming a retirement haven for Americans. The Seasoned Traveler breathes in the sights and sounds of Panama , explains the economic and social advantages of calling the isthmus "home", and introduces viewers to Americans who've already made the move to live out their days in Paradise .

   
 

213) Peru


It's the third biggest country in South America and home to some amazing sights, not the least of which are the famed archeological sites in the Andes Mountains. We'll travel to the Sacred Valley of the Incas and make our way to one of the most extraordinary ancient sites: Machu Picchu. And along the way, we'll stop in the teeming capital city, Lima, and the former Mayan capital, Cusco .
